A Level maths and further maths students from Rochdale Sixth Form College
A group of 92 A Level maths and further maths students from Rochdale Sixth Form College recently took part and excelled in the UK Senior Maths Challenge.
The challenge, which sees entrants answer a series of 25 multiple choice questions under exam conditions within 90 minutes, takes place annually and is open to all 16-19 year olds studying mathematics.
The top 60% of entrants, nationally, are awarded with bronze, silver or gold certificates to showcase their achievements.
Rochdale Sixth Form Students achieved an impressive ten silver and thirty bronze awards.
College Maths teacher “The students worked with great enthusiasm towards this highly respected award and thoroughly deserve their accolades in recognition of their efforts. These kind of extra-curricular activities always look great when the students go on to apply for university and jobs.”
Maths student Mehedi Hossain said “I feel that the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge is a great way to test your ability to think ‘outside the box.’ It’s different from regular A-level exams as there isn’t a set way to prepare for it, so you have to think of a logical method on the spot. This makes it even more rewarding when you do well, as it was your own, independent work. Additionally, a great perk of the award is that it looks great on CV’s and personal statements.”
