Kentmere Primary School

Date published: 20 January 2015

Well done Zain! The Resilience and Bravery Governors award was won by our very own Zain for efforts at Robin Wood and within class.

Mrs. Isberg would like to wish all parents a Happy New Year and let you know she is glad to be back at Kentmere as Headteacher after her short maternity leave. Kentmere Primary School has an exciting term ahead and as you will be aware, we are joining Wardle Academy on 1 February.

Miss Day’s Year 5 class have been focusing on writing explanation texts about natural disasters, researching on the internet and making notes before writing a larger piece. The research has been fantastic and they have all learnt a lot. Did you know that the temperature inside a volcano can reach over 1000 degrees Celsius? The family assembly has also motivated a stream of book reviews from the class with some class members (Saffron) submitting more than one already.

Miss Horton’s Year 3/4 class have been learning about pitch and rhythms in their music lessons. The children composed their own 4 bar melodies and played them on the chime bars and glockenspiels.

The nursery had some new starters in their first week back and the rest of the children did really well helping them to settle in and feel welcome. They started the term by learning about superheroes and talking about their own super powers and what they are good at. They were also counting to 20 and back from 10.

Mrs Smith would like to remind all pupils who have band lesson to bring your instrument to school every Wednesday. The school policy on uniform states that children must wear black shoes in school NOT boots or trainers. All children must also have their PE kit in school at all times; this must consist of black shorts (or leggings), a white t-shirt and black pumps.

Please remember that all afterschool clubs finish at 4.20pm and you must collect your child from the main reception at this time.

Please note you must apply for places in breakfast club and your child will then be added to the waiting list.
