BAFTA nomination for Spidervision Productions

Date published: 17 January 2015

Spidervision Productions, a film production company with its head office in Rochdale, has been nominated for a BAFTA award.

Three Brothers, a gripping drama on the plight of three South Asian boys growing up in modern-day Britain, has been nominated in the category of Best Short Film.

The film was produced in conjunction with Film London and was directed by Aleem Khan.

Ruth Yasmeen, film producer at Spidervision, said: “We are delighted to receive the nomination. The film is a showcase of the high quality emerging talent we have in this country, especially in the North where we filmmakers have been under represented for so long.”

Spidervision Productions was founded in 2012 and specialises in transcultural filmmaking, and has links to the Bollywood film industry.

“Bollywood is highly interested in utilising the creative talent in the UK to build bridges between Eastern and Western film industries, thereby improving cultural awareness whilst promoting a more diverse film industry which is dynamic and vibrant,” added Ruth.

The 2015 BAFTA award ceremony will be held at the Royal Opera House in London on Sunday 8 February.

Three Brothers also received recognition last year when it came runner up at the London Short Film Festival.
