£30,000 of cannabis seized in Smallbridge

Date published: 16 January 2015

Approximately £30,000 worth of cannabis has been seized from a property in Smallbridge today (Friday 16 January) following a tip off from members of the public.

Officers from Rochdale East Integrated Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a drugs warrant after receiving information about the house in Ashbook Crescent. They forced entry to the property and uncovered a large amount of cannabis, along with equipment used to cultivate the drug.

The electricity meter at the property had also been bypassed. Police have now seized the drugs and equipment.

PC Gordon Rycroft, a Neighbourhood Police Officer for Smallbridge, said: “This is a significant seizure; taking drugs off the street is one of my main priorities. I would like to add a very big thank you to all those that have helped us. Intelligence is important to us so please continue to ring the police, or Crimestoppers, with any information you may have.”

He added: “Today’s result shows how important it is for the public and the police to work together to tackle drug-related crime.”

Anyone wishing to report information to police can contact them on 101 or 0161 856 8549. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
