Middleton shopping centre evacuated

Shortly before 1.00pm today, Friday 9 January 2015, police received reports of a suspicious package found in Middleton Shopping Centre.
The shopping centre was evacuated and a cordon was put in place in the immediate area as a precautionary measure.
Officers from the GMP Tactical Aid Unit attended and after examining the package, confirmed it as non-suspicious.
The cordon has now been lifted and all roads are now open.
