Emma Coppinger and Angie Smith pick up special awards

Emma Coppinger and Angie Smith, college tutors from Rochdale, received special awards in a ceremony at Oldham College’s Christmas end of term address.

Emma, of Littleborough, is curriculum leader in Music & Entertainment Technology at the college and was received a True Team Player award for her commitment and loyalty to the team across her ten years there.

Emma’s manager said: “Emma is a team player through and through; she cares deeply about her students, her staff and her role here at college. She has never veered from her commitment and loyalty to her team.

“She is a creative innovator, introducing exciting projects and schemes to raise students’ commitment and self-esteem, and fun treats to raise staff morale. She is a true role model for students and an inspirational member of our team.”

Angie Smith, who teaches on the Access to Higher Education course, was named Most Inspirational Tutor, with students crediting her for the energy, enthusiasm and the support that she delivers.

Speaking about Angie, one of her students said: “Not only is she a great motivational teacher, but she’s a role model to us and incredibly inspirational.”

Both were given certificates for their awards, along with a £50 shopping voucher and caricature or portrait of themselves specially created by Oldham College Art & Design students.
