DJ Jon DaFox donates PlayStation 4 and toys to Teenage Cancer Trust

Date published: 07 January 2015

Jon DaFox has donated a PlayStation 4 and toys to the Teenage Cancer Trust ward at The Christie Hospital in Manchester after raising £400 at a charity event.

The event was a dance night involving a number of DJs, with all proceeds raised going to the charity.

Speaking about the event, Jon said: “I’m really pleased with how it all went and how much money we raised. To say the event was a small scale event that was held on a Sunday night, I am really happy.”

Jon, a DJ at the Darli Bar in Rochdale Town centre, decided to hold the event after speaking with people in the Bar.

He said: “Most of the people who come to the Darli bar are probably aged between 18 and 21 so when I was talking to them about things that I could do, this type of event came up, as did the Teenage Cancer Trust. I thought why not do something that those people want to support and that is close to them.”

Once the money was raised, Jon decided to buy a PlayStation 4 with games to give to the charity.

“After talking to the Teenage Cancer Trust about giving them the money, I suggested bringing some gifts instead and they said that would be a good idea. We then went to Smyths Toys in Oldham and got the PlayStation because I thought that would be something that everyone could use. The manager at Smyths then gave use a remote control car to give to them as well,” added Jon.

Jon then donated the gifts to the hospital on Christmas Eve and upon receiving them, the Teenage Cancer Trust are said to be “over the moon”.

After the success of this event, Jon now hopes to hold more fundraising events throughout 2015 and already has a number of ideas up his sleeve.

He added: “I think the next event might be in April but nothing has been decided yet. I am also thinking about other charities I can help so it is not just all for the Teenage Cancer Trust. I am also looking at a big event in the summer.”
