Three men broke into a house and stole jewellery and cash

Date published: 06 January 2015

Police are appealing for information after three men broke into a house in Rochdale and stole a large amount of jewellery and £2000 in cash.

Shortly after 7.15pm on Tuesday 16 December 2014, police were called to an address on Oldham Road following reports of a burglary.

Officers attended and established that at around 5.30pm, three men had smashed the glass on a door at the rear of the house alerting the woman who lived there. When the 84-year-old woman opened the back door, the offenders forced her back into the property and made her sit down whilst they searched the house.

The three men – who are described as two mixed race and one white of large build in their late 20's - left a short time later with jewellery and £2000 in cash; possibly in a dark coloured van.
Police investigating the burglary are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Donna Rollinson said: “Having your home broken into and being robbed is awful enough but to be forced back into your house and made to sit there whilst it happens must have been terrifying.

“I would like to appeal to anybody who may have any information at all that can be contributed to this investigation to please contact the police.”

Anybody with information should contact the police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
