Rochdale Community Partnership feed the homeless on New Year’s Day

Date published: 05 January 2015

The Rochdale Community Partnership (RCP) started 2015 off by holding their first soup kitchen of the year to help the homeless.

Held at the former Magistrates Court building in Rochdale Town Centre on New Year’s Day, the event saw up to 20 people attend and was described by organisers as a “great success”.

Sajid Yasin from RCP said: “We feel the event was a great success for our first soup kitchen and we had about 15-20 attendees.

“When RCP acquired use of the building, we began discussions with many different organisations and charities around Rochdale who mentioned that this is a tough time for the homeless, so we thought that we should start the New Year the right way by helping those who need it the most.”

After the success of the group’s first soup kitchen, they plan to hold more events throughout the year.

“This soup kitchen was our first of many events and we will be continuing the soup kitchen on the last Thursday of every month, starting on Thursday 29 January,” added Sajid.
