Mohammed Asif jailed for five years
Date published: 02 January 2015
Mohammed Asif, 36, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to charges including possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
Asif of Wolvesey, Freehold, crashed a car into a house in Deeplish during a high speed police chase in July 2014 after he was spotted by police driving his Vauxhall Astra on the wrong side of the road.
Officers who attempted to stop the car witnessed Asif driving through red lights and hitting other vehicles before he crashed into a house on Milkstone Road.
Despite sustaining serious injuries as a result of the crash, Asif tried to run away from the scene but was caught following a short chase. No one in the house was injured.
Once caught by police, Asif was found in possession of £1,002 cash. When officers searched his car they found 15 wraps of heroin with a street value of £150 on the driver’s seat.
He was sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
