Date published: 02 January 2015
The rider of a Yamaha motorbike, who has been taken to hospital this morning (Friday 2 January) with possible leg fractures and a potentially serious head injury after colliding with a car, is in a critical condition.
Police were called to the incident involving the motorbike and a Toyota van on Manchester Road at its junction with Partington Road in Castleton at around 6.30am.
Following that collision, a third vehicle - a Ford Fiesta - then collided with the motorbike and its rider as they were stationary in the road.
A spokesperson for the police said: “At this stage we can’t say how serious the injuries are but they are being treated as potentially life threatening.”
The driver of the van and the Ford Fiesta were uninjured.
Police are now appealing to anyone who has information about the incident to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4742.
Manchester Road was closed in both directions.
