Janusz Zaborowski, 41, of Holborn Street, Rochdale was fined after pleading guilty to leaving bags of rubbish, fence panels and other general waste were fly tipped on open land on Holborn Street, Rochdale.

In a separate case, Shanuz Jamal and Tahmina Rumi of Cook Street, Rochdale pleaded guilty to a similar offence after stating they asked a third party to clear a mattress, chair and general rubbish, from the yard of the property.

Zaborowski was fined £70 by Bury and Rochdale Magistrates Court and was ordered to pay £200 by way of costs contribution and a £20 victim surcharge, which will be deducted from his benefits.

Having assessed their respective incomes, the same court fined Jamal £180 and Rumi £110. They were ordered to pay £205 each towards the prosecution costs plus a £20 victim surcharge. The financial penalties, totalling £405 for Jamal and £335 for Rumi, are to be paid at £20 per month each, with first payments to be made within 28 days.

Councillor Jacqui Beswick, Rochdale Council Cabinet Member for Housing and Environment, said: “We have successfully brought yet more cases of fly tipping to court and achieved two fantastic results for our borough. We simply will not tolerate lazy individuals who litter and fail to ensure their rubbish is properly disposed of.

“I hope these prosecutions serve as a warning to others that we will fully investigate every incident of fly tipping as far as possible and that we are not afraid to take cases to court.”
