Rochdale Key Stage 2 results lowest in Greater Manchester

Date published: 22 December 2014

It has been revealed that fewer 11-year-olds in Rochdale hit Key Stage 2 targets in 2014 than any other area in Greater Manchester.

The results do, however, show an improvement for the third year in a row with 77% of 11-year-olds in Rochdale meeting the target. In 2012, 71% of students reached expected targets with that figure rising to 75% in 2013.

The figures relate to the number of children achieving a Level 4 grade in their Maths and English exams, which all pupils are expected to meet by the end of Year 6.

Rochdale’s result is two points short of the national average of 79%.

Sue Eastwood, Head of Schools at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “This year saw pupils achieve their best ever KS2 results, but we absolutely acknowledge there is still more to do.

“We have improved year on year for the last three years, and have achieved a 6% increase in Level 4 since 2012.

“We will continue to build on this good work and we will not be satisfied until all pupils in the borough achieve the best possible outcome.”
