The Queen Street Children and Family Contact Centre in Heywood was treated to a large selection of new toys.
The toys were donated to the centre by President of Rochdale Inner Wheel, Irene Davidson and President of Rochdale Rotary Club, Bob Chadwick after group members, friends of each club and customers of Rochdale Tesco stores donated the toys to an appeal made by the clubs.
Rochdale Inner Wheel President, Irene Davidson said: “I’ve been overwhelmed with the response I’ve received after appealing for toys to make our local children happy despite their often sad family situations.”
The centre supports families to bring up their own children and strengthen families and safeguard children. It also helps parents improve their parenting skills, prevent family breakdowns, safeguard children from abuse and exploitation and tries to makes children’s home lives more stable. The centre also offers respite day care as part of a family support package.
Heywood centre worker Catherine Moore thanked Irene and Bob for thinking about the centre and said: “The toys will be a great boost for all of the children attending over the Christmas period.”
