The Carers’ Choir
The Carers’ Choir will be busily spreading Christmas cheer in the coming weeks, with a series of free concerts planned across the borough.
The choir will be belting out a host of festive favourites, from pop songs like ‘Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree’ to more traditional carols.
The choir, which has around 30 members, was formed in June 2012 and has been going from strength to strength, with the bookings stacking up, particularly around Christmas and Easter time.
The choir regularly practice at the council-run support network, the Carers’ Resource under the tuition of local music teacher and choir master, Phil Reynolds.
Choir member Pauline Fardon, said: “Being in the carers’ choir is so enjoyable. It gives you a break from your caring role and just makes you feel so happy. It’s great to see people’s reaction. We performed at the Rochdale Christmas light switch on and people were clapping and singing. It was wonderful.”
