‘Jus Chillin’, a film by Rochdale filmmaker Zafar Iqbal, to premiere on DM Global TV

‘Jus Chillin,’ the third feature film by Rochdale filmmaker Zafar Iqbal, is set to make its TV premiere on Tuesday 9 December on DM Global TV.

Following on from the successful charity premiere at the Odeon Cinema in Rochdale, the film has been picked up by DM Global TV, a Manchester based British Asian TV channel.

The film will be broadcast to viewers in over 166 countries at 9:30pm (GMT).

‘Jus Chillin’ was filmed in Rochdale, Bolton and Blackpool and tells the story of four couples who are celebrating being together but during those celebrations something terrible happens which changes their lives forever. 

Zafar Iqbal, actor and filmmaker, said: “I am very thrilled that our independent movie has been selected and we can’t wait for the TV premiere to share our imagination on the small screen too.

“It has been a very rewarding relationship with DM Global TV so that is why I didn’t approach another broadcaster for the world premiere.

“Filmmaking is a team game and the cast and production team of the movie have worked very hard and I am thankful to everybody for their collaboration with the movie.

“I strongly believe that the TV premiere will also help to create a better profile for Rochdale as currently, Rochdale is in the national media for the wrong reasons. Our production will highlight unity, arts and film activities in Rochdale as there is more to Rochdale than what we are being shown in national media.”

The film has been supported by boxer Amir Khan and the premiere was attended by the Mayor of Rochdale Carol Wardle, Mayoress Beverley Place, DM Global TV Presenter Mehboob Khan, Councillor Farooq Ahmed, Councillor Shefali Ahmed, the cast and crew and local residents.

Funds raised from the premiere were donated to the NSPCC, The Variety Club, the Amir Khan Foundation, Gaza and the Qasim Abbas Trust.
