Metro Moneywise Credit Union celebrated its 25th year last week with a celebration event at Rochdale Town Hall.
The Mayor Carol Wardle attended the event along with Mayoress Beverley Place and the Leader of the Council, Councillor Richard Farnell.
One of the key speakers was Mark Lyonette, Chief Executive of ABUCL (Association of British Credit Unions).
Metro Moneywise Credit Union was set up 25 years ago for Rochdale Council employees to offer them an alternative way to save and borrow direct from salary.
Metro Moneywise Credit Union is one of Rochdale’s success stories as it has seen membership grow from 100 in its first year to over 3,700 members. Membership now includes Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, NHS Pennine Acute and NHS Pennine Care.
