Siddal Moor Annual Awards Evening

Siddal Moor held its Annual Awards Evening for the Class of 2014 where the main focus of the evening was to celebrate the success of the Year 11 students who recently left school.

The evening opened with songs from current students, Lauren Bridge, Caitlin Fitton and Kenzie Froggatt-Hall.

Headteacher, Ray Baker said: “Congratulations on your recent exam results and thank you to your parents for their support.

“I wish all the students good luck and hope they will continue to demonstrate their hard working qualities as they carry on their journey through further education, apprenticeships, and beyond.

“The school can celebrate the recent statistics, which show that this group of students has had the largest uptake of Post 16 Training and Education options of any previous year group.”

Students were then presented with a range of awards for attainment and endeavour as well as receiving their formal GCSE Certificates.

Award winners included Melissa Robb, Nathan Maxwell, Emma Greenhalgh, Charlie Thomas and Leonie Ryder each of whom displayed outstanding effort and achievement.

The evening closed with some words from Former Head Girl, Caitlin Matthews, where she talked about her pride in both her role as a prefect and the school as a whole, before handing over the responsibilities to the current Head Boy and Girl, Adam Loeb and Megan Jamieson.

Former Head Girl, Caitlin Matthews, closed the evening said: “I am proud to have been prefect and proud of the school as a whole.”

Caitlin then handed over the responsibility of being a prefect to the current Head Boy and Girl, Adam Loeb and Megan Jamieson.

“It’s wonderful to see so many mature, happy and successful young people” commented Karen McCarthy Chair of Governors
