Littleborough Christmas lights switch on
Christmas kicked off early as Littleborough got into the festive mood with their Christmas lights switch on.
Organised by LEAF (Littleborough Events Association Forum) the event included a fun fair for children and entertainment including music and dance from Littleborough Brass Band, Littleborough Oakenhoof Cloggers with The Black Nan Band, Tracey Ray's School of Dance and the More Than Melody Choir.
Father Christmas and his elves also paid an early visit to Littleborough as he arrived by fire engine at the event to meet with children before Christmas. He was accompanied by Rochdale's Beauty Queen, Amy Gibson.
The lights were switched on by 11-year old Evelyn Larder from Smithy Bridge Primary School accompanied by Rochdale's Deputy Mayor, Surinder Biant and Deputy Mayoress, Cecile Biant.
Speaking about the event, organisers LEAF said: “Thanks to everyone who came to Littleborough for our Christmas Lights Event - it was a super show of community spirit and we hope everyone enjoyed a fun, festive time.”
Those in attendance also praised the event with many people describing the event as a “great family event” and “a top night for the family enjoyed by all.”
Simon France, of Littleborough Local, added: “I loved it. It was great to see so many people coming down to support it. I think we need a bigger square.”
