Littleborough Oakenhoof cloggers appear on More4 TV show

Date published: 22 November 2014

The Littleborough Oakenhoof Cloggers have appeared on the More4 television show Hidden Villages.

The group, formed in February this year, performed on the show which is hosted by Dame Penelope Keith.

Scenes for the show were filmed by Reef TV with Oakenhoof Cloggers being invited to take part by Robynne Wood, a member of Lancashire Wallopers clog dancing group.

Group Leader, Paul Woodhead said: “It went really well. It was really good and we all had a really good time.”

The group performed on the show alongside the Rossendale Clog Heritage Group at Queen Street Mill in Burnley.

Members of the group also chatted with Dame Penelope Keith, star of sitcoms including The Good Life, as well as showing off their clogging for the heritage themed show.

Paul added: “It was a really good way to bring the year to a close. We still have a lot left to do over the next few weeks but this has definitely been good.”

The group will now be involved with the Littleborough Christmas Lights Switch On which takes place today (Saturday 22 November) and will be performing for passengers on the East Lancashire Railway on Sunday (23 November).

“We have recently worked out that in six months we have done over 20 live performances so it has been a really good year and hopefully we will have another busy year next year. It is just about generating that interest and getting people involved,” added Paul.

Hidden Villages will be repeated on Sunday on More4 at 11am.
