Age UK Rochdale praise RBH Extra Care scheme

Date published: 18 November 2014

The Chairwoman of Age UK Rochdale has described RBH’s flagship Extra Care development at Hare Hill in Littleborough as a “defining moment” in the way the borough cares for older people.

Vera Hirst believes the project will bring huge benefits to residents when it opens its doors in spring 2015.

The scheme, consisting of 41 two-bedroom and two single-bedroom apartments, will enable people to lead independent lives with the reassurance that expert medical care is on hand 24-hours-a-day.

Vera, who lives in Littleborough, recently went on a tour of the site when she attended the topping out ceremony.

She said: “I was very impressed by RBH’s Extra Care project and believe it will be a major asset to the borough.

“It will have a major impact on people’s physical and mental wellbeing by helping them to retain their independence while having expert care tailored to their individual needs available whenever required.

“They will be able to relax in the comfort of their own modern home as well as having the chance to socialise with other residents, pursue hobbies and interests and have easy access to Littleborough’s services and facilities.

“This marks a defining moment in the way our borough cares for older people and I’m looking forward to touring the site again once it has opened next spring.”

Rochdale Borough Council will shortly be appointing a care provider for the scheme to ensure that residents receive the best possible care.
