Rochdale Council legal team moving out of Number One Riverside

Date published: 17 November 2014

The legal team at Rochdale Council will be moving out of Number One Riverside to accommodate Children’s Services.

It is understood that the team will be moving to Townhead in December and then moving on to premises in Middleton in February.

Linda Fisher, Acting Chief Executive at Rochdale Council, said: “We are always improving the way we use our buildings to maximise productivity and increase efficiency. By coming out of Crossfield Mill when the lease expires and bringing Children’s Services together in Number One Riverside, they will be able to work more closely and help us to further improve this important service. To accommodate these additional staff, the smaller legal department will briefly move into Townhead before moving to permanent offices in Brook House with other partners.”

Number One Riverside opened in March 2013 but despite winning a number of awards, the building has come under criticism by some as it is believed that the building is not big enough to accommodate all council staff.

In June this year, Rochdale Online reported that the council was refurbishing Fashion Corner on Water Street at a cost of £450,000 to accommodate council staff and work with young people.
