Lower Falinge Activity Group

Date published: 03 November 2014

Members of the Lower Falinge Arts and Crafts Club spent Halloween afternoon making Halloween decorations.

The club, which is run by the Lower Falinge Activity Group, was set up 16 months ago to help relieve the boredom of the school holidays.

The session on Friday (31 October) saw around 12 children attend to create a variety of Halloween decorations for the spooky celebration.

Andy Littlewood, chairman of the Activity Group and volunteer club leader, said: “We run every Friday during school holidays and the children have supported the group from the very first session. We only have a small base to work from, but we average around 12 people at each of the Arts and Crafts sessions. It is of utmost importance that the children feel part of Lower Falinge and have a sense of belonging.

“The group has made great strides in providing provision for the estate’s children.

"In February last year, after receiving funding from Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH), the group started a Homework Club for Year 1 to Year 11 pupils. The Arts and crafts Club followed in the summer and both clubs have gone from strength to strength.

“I would like to thank the committee of the Activity Group for all of their hard work and RBH for their initial funding. Without their support, the Activity Group would not be in a position to provide the activities which it does.”
