Harriet Jackson has joined the Rochdale Online team as an Administration Apprentice.
Harriet, 17, from Littleborough, joined the team in September after the job was suggested to her by Rochdale Training.
Harriet said: “I went to Rochdale Training after leaving college and the job was suggested to me because of my previous experience.”
Harriet attended Hollingworth Business and Enterprise College before heading to Oldham Sixth Form College. At college, Harriet studied Performance Studies, Drama and Theatre Studies and English Language but decided to leave after a year.
“It wasn’t really for me in the end. I was finding that I wasn’t very good at exams so decided to leave and find something else to focus on,” said Harriet.
Harriet has quickly become a valued member of the Rochdale Online team working on a number of aspects of the website as well as office duties.
“I can’t explain why but I really enjoy the job,” said Harriet. “It’s really good and I do a lot of different things. I like to earn and learn so this was a good opportunity for me to take.”
As part of her apprenticeship, Harriet will be working towards gaining her qualification in Business Administration.
Rochdale Online Managing Director, Pauline Journeaux said: "Advertising revenue has increased again this year and so following the launch of the Rochdale Online Department Store in June, when the workload in the office increased substantially, we were in a position to offer an apprenticeship. We have a long term relationship with Rochdale Training and approached them to facilitate the apprenticeship. They put forward a number of candidates and having chosen Harriet we are delighted with her attitude and her work ethic."
When she is not working, Harriet is a keen horse rider and has been riding horses since she was six years old.
Speaking about horse riding, Harriet said: “It is something I have always liked doing. My horse, 'David', is like my best friend really.”
