Marketing award for Right Stuff Right Bin campaign
Date published: 24 October 2014
Recycle for Greater Manchester won the Sustainable/Green marketing campaign of the year award at the Northern Marketing Awards for their Right Stuff Right Bin campaign, which was delivered in partnership with Rochdale Council, and was designed to support residents to recycle right in the Newbold area.
During bin collections, council crews either left a green ‘Right stuff, Right bin’ tag on bins that contain the correct items, thanking residents for recycling correctly or a red ‘Wrong stuff, Wrong bin’ tag if they recycled incorrectly. This was supported with community door-knocking, events and local advertising.
The judges felt that this was: “the stand-out campaign in its category with the client and agency clearly working well together. The campaign was well structured and thorough and delivered fantastic results”
As a result of the campaign, there was a 61% reduction in the amount of the incorrect items put in the mixed recycling bin and the recycling rate increased by 49%. The campaign also delivered over £20,000 disposal cost savings between September and November 2013.
