Achievement Assembly
On Wednesday 22 October 10.00am at The Gracie Fields Theatre, we will be celebrating the achievements of Key Stage 4 students during the past year. This will involve presentation of achievement awards, examples of student work and film examples of the various activities. I hope that parents / carers who have received an invitation can make this special event.
School Photos
All pupils have had their photograph taken this week by a professional company, supported by staff. Details will be sent home of the process to purchase this special momentum and photograph.
Family Halloween Disco
This family event will take place next week on Tuesday 21 October 6.00pm to 8.00pm and all families are invited to attend. There will be refreshments, pie and peas, fancy dress competitions and a disco. Please come along to this RedAid family function.
Y9 Accelerated Learning Programme
I spent some time this week with the Y9 Accelerated Learning group to review their first five weeks and the feedback was extremely positive. A few anxious moments at the start of the term has turned to collective confidence and enjoyment of their new activities and programmes. One such opportunity will be the introduction of a St. Johns Ambulance First Aid programme after half term. Well done to all those young people concerned.
School Training Day
A reminder to parents and carers that school will be closed to pupils on Friday 24 October for a staff training day. School will re-open to pupils on Monday 3 November.
After School and Youth Club programme
The plans for the October half term club are now in place and parents and carers will have been notified of the activities. The after school clubs last week attracted 96 pupils taking the opportunity to take part in clubs such as multi sports, cookery, crafts, hair and beauty, ICT, music, football, film, Wii and swimming. Something for everybody. 39 students also attended the Youth Clubs during the week.

Students in 4C have been honing their woodwork skills.
They made mini tables and noughts and crosses games.
4B have completed their bird house project this week. We have been experimenting with a patch work feel and tones of colour. I think you will agree they look amazing.
During our Fox Friday session we created handmade peppermint creams and fox gift packaging. A lovely present to take home.
4J have been busy making Halloween lanterns ready for the forthcoming event. They look very scary. Well done.
A group of Key Stage 4 staff will be taking part in ‘Survival of the Fittest’ on Sunday the 8 November to raise money for RedAid. We have all been training hard and are very nervous.
