Work progressing on Rochdale Station subway
Date published: 16 October 2014
Work is progressing to get the subway at Rochdale Train Station opened.
Contractors started clearing the site recently.
Transport for Greater Manchester confirm that the tree and site clearance works started a couple of weeks ago and has now been completed. The next phase of works will see the removal of the redundant bridge structures and the main construction work will start after this.
The work is part of a 'masterplan' for the station gateway area, with wider physical improvements, including better lighting, proposed to take place following completion of the extended subway.
It is hoped that the work will be complete by December.
