ASB update

- Drake road area, Stansfield, Littleborough
- Fletcher Street and Kildare Crescent, Kirkholt
- Milnrow Park
- Caldermoor/Whitelees Road - Hare Hill Road , and Hare Hill Park
Inspector Pawson's message
Our neighbourhood priorities are not only to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, but also to improve the service that people receive from the police. I am proud to lead a committed team of officers who work hard to keep our local community safe and who strive to deliver policing that addresses the needs of the community. We also work closely with our local partners, to ensure that those responsible for committing crime and anti-social behaviour within our community are held to account for their actions.
As we enter the autumn months and the dark nights draw in burglars will be on the lookout for opportunities, so please make sure you keep your property safe and your homes secure by locking up, setting your alarm and using light timers. Burglars will use open windows and doors to allow them to sneak in, along with looking for signs that no one is at home.
Garages and sheds are often targets for would be burglars as they can be full of expensive tools which they can steal or use to break into people’s houses. Please do not leave a garage or garden shed unlocked, fit strong padlocks and hardware to doors. Make sure that doors are also solid enough so that they can’t be forced open. Fit locks or bars to windows if possible, lock ladders up inside your garage or shed and also consider lockable steel boxes or anchor posts fitted to the floor to secure tools and machinery equipment, your equipment should also be permanently marked with your postcode.
As temperatures begin to get colder members of the public are also warned not to leave their cars unattended whilst defrosting them. Legally, all windows on vehicles have to be clear with no obstructions before beginning a journey, however drivers are taking a risk of leaving their vehicles unattended whilst their engines are running to defrost on a chilly morning, this is an opportunity for thieves to strike and often vehicle owners may find that not only have they lost their transport to work or school but also their insurance companies will not honour their claims.
If you require any further information about crime reduction, safety or security please get in contact with your local policing team and we would be more than happy to assist you.
The team also hold regular "have your say" meetings in the local wards and I would urge you to pop along to these meetings, so that we can understand exactly what your concerns and priorities are. Details of the meetings can be found on our web pages for your local area.
I would encourage you to contact us if you have any concerns or if you have any information relating to crime and disorder in your area.
