Springhill Hospice 25th Anniversary Ball

Date published: 05 October 2014

Staff, volunteers, supporters and special guests helped celebrate the 25th anniversary of Springhill Hospice at a celebratory ball.

Held in the Great Hall of Rochdale Town Hall, last night (Saturday 4 October), the evening’s celebrations included a five-course dinner, a raffle, an auction and entertainment.

Alison McGuigan, who helped organise the ball before leaving her position as fundraising lead at the hospice said: “It has been a marvellous way to say goodbye. It was a great night.”

Mayor of Rochdale Councillor Carol Wardle said: “It was just a marvellous event. To think that the Hospice has been running for 25 years and still gets the support of the public is very humbling. Everyone should support the hospice because you never know if you might need it.”

Local councillors and the Mayor and Mayoress of Whitworth were also in attendance.

Entertainment throughout the evening included a swing band and a special performance by Soprano Bella from London.

Springhill Hospice opened its doors in 1989 and provides specialist palliative care for people with life limiting illnesses. As well as care at the hospice, in-patient, day-hospice, outpatient, and 24 hour advice are available for patients throughout Rochdale and the surrounding areas.
