Local scout group raise £270 for Macmillan
Date published: 02 October 2014
The 37th Rochdale Scouts have raised £270 for Macmillan after holding a Macmillan bake off and coffee morning.
Held on Saturday 27 September, the event included a cake competition, a raffle, tea and coffee, arts and crafts and biscuit decorating.
Helen McLaren who helped organise the event said: “It went really well. We had a really good day.”
The event was held in aid of Macmillan because Helen’s mum, who died from cancer, was supported by Macmillan.
“I wanted to do something for Macmillan because of the help they gave to my mum. They were fantastic,” said Helen.
The group now hope to hold the event next year and hope it continues to get bigger and better.
Helen added: “We raised £70 more this year than we did last year so hopefully we can do it again and raise more money. If we keep doing it year on year the total might just keep increasing.”
