Date published: 01 October 2014

The Wardle Junior Band took to the stage at Manchester Bridgewater Hall on Saturday 13 September for one of the largest brass band festivals in the world – the 2014 Great Northern Brass Arts Festival.

The Junior Band was joined by the bands of Wardle’s partner primary schools - Littleborough Primary School, Kentmere Primary School, St. Andrew’s Primary School, St. James’ Primary School, Smithy Bridge Primary School, Stansfield Hall Primary School and Holy Trinity Primary School to give a "fantastic performance" on the day.

The band was conducted by Lee Rigg.

The young musicians gave a rousing performance starting with ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary’ and finishing with ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’.

A spokesperson for the band said: "The audience loved it and the experience of being on one of the UK’s biggest stages was one that the youngsters will never forget."
