Siddal Moor raise £280.00 for Macmillan

Date published: 01 October 2014

Siddal Moor Sports College held a Macmillan Coffee morning for staff on Friday 26 September. Staff were asked to donate homemade cakes and in each staff workroom the goodies were available to all on the proviso that they made a donation to the charity.

Administration and Support Staff used the school boardroom to enjoy the best offerings these lovely folk could make. Diets were put to one side and all the staff enjoyed “Cake and Coffee Friday” Marie Howarth and her good friend Trish McLoughlin who organised the event were very impressed with cakes that were made and in total raised £280.00 for the charity.

Marie Howarth suffered from a Leiomysarcoma (cancer of the soft muscle tissue) in the summer of 2012 and was treated at St Marys and The Christie. Marie wanted to hold this event in order to give something back, in appreciation for the care she received at both hospitals and from the Macmillan nurses who looked after her during her illness. She would also like to thank all her colleagues at Siddal Moor for their support during this time and to this day.

Both Marie and Trish would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff at the school for their support.
