School Mass
All parents and carers are welcome to come and join us for the following celebrations:
School Mass at St. John’s Church, 10.30am on Thursday, 9 October.
Harvest Festival in the school hall on Friday, 10 October at 2.30pm. Please arrive on time.
Admission to primary schoolSeptember 2015
Parents/carers of children in our nursery class will have received a letter and application form for primary school places in September. Please ensure that you complete and return the application to the schools admissions team at Rochdale Council before 15 January 2015. Alternatively, applications can be completed online at www.rochdale.gov.uk If you need help to complete this form, please ask a member of staff in the school office or nursery.
Help your children to learn
Parents/carers are asked to help children with their learning by listening to them read their books. Please sign their reading log so that teaching staff know when to change their books.
Congratulations are extended to Mrs Robinson, Mrs Gulzar and Miss Naz who received their Foundation Degrees in Early Years from Bolton University in September.

Sports
St. John’s received a special visitor on Monday, 20 September when Grant Turner, Olympic Swimmer came to give an inspirational chat as well as running a whole school fitness session.
* St. John’s reached the final of the School Partnership Football Competition on Thursday, 23 September when they played against St. Mary’s RC, Langley.
* Year 4/5 boys will be playing football against Holy Family on Tuesday, 30 September – results will be given in the next issue.
So far this term, class Da Vinci has had the best attendance out of the whole school with just over 98%.
We would like to see a big improvement in Tutu and Einstein classes, so come on parents/ carers, ensure your children are in school every day.
Punctuality
Children should be in school by 8.50am unless they are attending breakfast club which starts at 8am.
