On Friday 26 September Year 7 Wardle Academy pupils hosted a Macmillan coffee morning, inviting family, friends and carers and raising £422 for the cancer charity.
The morning began with an assembly in which the pupils presented their thoughts on how secondary school compares to primary school and although all pupils agreed they had really enjoyed their first few weeks at Wardle Academy, they also mentioned a significant rise in homework!
After the presentation, the guests were then treated to tea, coffee and a selection of cakes, baked by the pupils.
Sam Holt, who attended the morning to see her niece who is currently in Year 7 at Wardle Academy said: “The coffee morning was a brilliant way to reassure family and friends that the children have settled in well and are enjoying secondary school.
“They were all well-spoken, confident and polite during the presentations and the cakes were gorgeous!”
