Scott Gale guilty of repeated rape of a child
Scott Gale (07/11/86) from Rochdale has been found guilty at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court today (Friday 26 September) of five counts of rape and has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The rapes happened over a period of five years from the late 1990s against a girl who was under the age of 16.
Gale is currently serving a prison sentence following a conviction for engaging in sexual activity with a child and sexual assault in relation to separate matters.
Detective Constable Phil Whitehead, said: “These offences, and those he is currently serving a sentence for, prove he has a considerable and unpleasant penchant for children. He is an obvious and substantial threat, as has been highlighted by his sentence.
“It will be many, many years before he will even come close to being considered for release and in the interim period he has a number of very serious demons to confront and exercise.
“The victim lived with the abuse for many years but once she spoke to police, she told us how she felt like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders.
“Not only has justice been done and a dangerous man brought to justice, but reporting the matter has proved cathartic for the victim, and this is an experienced shared by many.
“When cases like this are resolved it is important to reassure and remind anyone who might have experienced sexual abuse but has not reported it to police that we are waiting on the end of the phone to deal with your complaint sensitively and thoroughly.”
