Rochdale Phones 4 U store closure confirmed, Middleton store transferred to Vodafone

Date published: 23 September 2014

The Phones 4 U store in Rochdale town centre will be closing for good after the company entered administration last week.

The shop, located on Yorkshire Street, is one of 362 stores closing across the country.

It is currently unclear how many jobs will be affected due to the closure.

The Middleton branch of Phones 4 U, located in Middleton Shopping Centre, is one of 140 stores being transferred to Vodafone.

Based on the decisions made by the administrators, property agents have now been appointed.

A spokesperson for administrators PWC said: “Following the joint administrators' difficult decision to close a large number of stores, Jonathan Haigh, real estate director at PwC, has confirmed the appointment of Prime Retail Property Consultants as advisers to the joint administrators on the Phones 4 U property portfolio.

“Prime Retail's role is to assist the joint administrators' team in the identification and realisation of value from the leasehold estate.

“Tim Hance, Prime Retail partner and assignment leader encourages prospective new occupiers and landlords seeking lease surrenders to make early contact.”
