John Barrett wins World Black Pudding championships

John Barrett, from Littleborough, has been crowned the champion at the World Black Pudding Championships.
The competition, held in Ramsbottom, is an annual competition which sees competitors looking to claim the crown by throwing black puddings at Yorkshire puddings stacked on a 20ft high plinth.
63-year-old John made the competition a family affair by claiming the title from his son-in-law Huseyin Ozluk who won the competition last year.
To be crowned the winner John knocked 10 Yorkshire puddings from the platform during a dramatic play off after it was announced he was drawing with another competitor.
Thousands of people turned up to the competition held on Sunday 14 September but unfortunately Prime Minister David Cameron and Prince Charles were unable to attend - organisers of the competition displayed official apology letters from the likes of David Cameron and Prince Charles expressing their regret that they couldn’t accept invites to the contest.
