House fire in Market Street, Whitworth
Date published: 10 September 2014
The occupants of a house on Market Street, Whitworth escaped unharmed from a fire at the terraced property in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 10 September).
The fire service sent appliances from Rochdale and Bacup, including an aerial appliance.
When they arrived the occupants had escaped safely but flames and smoke were coming from the roof.
Fire fighters used hose jets to put out fire and aerial appliance to fight the fire and took slates off the roof to ensure fire was out in the roof space.
Market Street (A671 ) was closed in both directions between the Hall Street junction and the Station Road junction and diverted along Cown Park Way.
