Bradley Hardman wins European Junior Open Golf Championship

Bradley Hardman has won the European Junior Open Golf Championship.

Bradley, 16, who has been playing golf from the age of two, competed against almost 100 golfers to secure the win.

During the competition Bradley won his age group stage and achieved the overall best score for the day.

His mum, Michelle Howarth, said: “We’re very proud of him for winning the championship. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve something like this.”

Bradley, a member of Lobden Golf Club in Whitworth and Hopwood Manchester Golf Club, has followed in the footsteps of his dad who was an assistant golf professional for 21 years.

Michelle added: “He has just followed in his dad's footsteps really and he is certainly improving. After seeing his dad do it for so long, I know exactly how much work you have to put into golf and Bradley has really been putting in the work.”

Bradley was unsure about competing in the tournament after suffering a wrist injury at a tournament the day before.

“He was going back and forth as to whether or not to go and then he eventually decided he would go so it was lucky he did,” said Michelle.

Bradley is now heading to Myerscough College in Preston to study for a Level 2 diploma BTEC in extended golf studies but still has a number of tournaments lined up.

Michelle said: “He has a competition on 26 September and some in October. This has really given him a confidence boost.”
