Fundraising lead Alison McGuigan left the hospice yesterday (Friday 5 September). Alison is moving to Lancashire Law in Milnrow to pick up her previous career in law.

Melanie Caffrey will be joining the fundraising team at the Hospice. Melanie has been responsible for organising a number of events in Heywood, including the Heywood 1940s day and the Christmas lights switch on.

Community Fundraiser Lillie Winterbottom said: “It is sad to see Alison go but it is nice to welcome Melanie to the team. Alison will certainly be missed by everyone at the hospice.”

Saba, from the fundraising team, was at Sainsbury’s at Heaton Park yesterday (Friday 5 September) to take part in bag packing. Saba was joined by a team of volunteers who were helping out with the fundraising. Saba is back today (Saturday 6 September) for another bag packing event. The hospice hopes to do these events once a fortnight.

The final of the hospice bowling competition will take place on Sunday 21 September. The competition will see 16 teams of mixed pairs compete in crown green bowls for the title of Springhill Hospice Bowling Mixed Pairs Champions at Ladybarn Bowling Club.

Lillie Winterbottom is currently working on a hospice newsletter that she hopes will be sent out every six months.
