Squeaky Squirrel gets environment nutty at Truffet Park Gala

Squeaky Squirrel
If you go quietly into Truffet Park in Langley on 7 June, you might spot a bushy-tailed creature of who - for the moment anyway - isn't so fussy about nuts. Getting his first outing in the borough, Squeaky Squirrel is instead doing his bit, with the help of conscientious young helpers and Rochdale Council, to make sure we all live in a cleaner and more peaceful environment.
Squeaky, who has signed up as the new mascot for the council's Environmental Management service, will be out and about raising the profile of the environment with the general public and rallying his young troops by engaging them in environmental awareness matters - ranging from litter through to anti-social behaviour and wildlife.
Mick Ripley, Street Services Manager for Middleton, says: "Squeaky will be popping up at events all over the borough as we strive to encourage the community to think about all the things that concern the environment in which we live.
"Squeaky is here to help people become more environmentally aware so together we can make a huge difference. So whenever you see him feel free to go up and say hello!"
