St Barnabas Church graveyard tidied up

Yvonne Hall, church warden at St Barnabas, has contacted Rochdale Online to give an update on the state of the graveyard. 

In June, Rochdale Online reported that St Barnabas Church local residents had raised concerns about the state of the graveyard.

Yvonne said: “The graveyard has been tidied massively and looks fabulous right now. It was a very expensive job and couldn’t have been done without a considerable donation from a member of the public.

“The cost of maintaining the graveyard to this standard is very high, and the church fund only goes so far. We’re trying to do our best with the money we have but we will always welcome donations from the public to help us out.”

Reverend Bernice Woodhead added: “I am very pleased with the work that has been undertaken. It is looking much better and I imagine people are a lot happier. The team have been back today (Thursday 28 August) and done some more work and it looks great.

“It is a lot to undertake and we are now looking to the future of the graveyard and are asking people for donations to help with the upkeep.”
