eBook containing works from members of the creative writing group at Rochdale Mind
An eBook containing works from members of the creative writing group at Rochdale Mind has been published.
The book is titled ‘Creative Writing’ and is available through Chipmunka Publishing, a company who specialise in publishing mental health literature.
The book contains pieces on mental illness, as well as current affairs and poetry.
There are a total of 40 pieces from 12 authors in the book.
Michael Walker, facilitator on the creative writing sessions at Rochdale Mind, said: “It is an amazing achievement to have our members’ book published. We hope that it will inspire people, especially with all the bad news going around at the moment.”
“Creative writing is a therapeutic activity for our members and the group also serves as a social gathering. Authors can have their work critiqued in a safe, friendly environment to gain confidence in their writing.”
“The group is proving successful as we’re gaining more and more people each month. The book is a measure of personal achievement and a positive image towards mental health awareness in the community.”
The creative writing group meet every Tuesday 10-12 at the Mind Well Being Centre on Drake Street. The sessions are open to anyone who is experiencing a mental health difficulty.
The book will be available in paperback within the next few weeks.
