Dragon Boat Race looking for teams
Date published: 03 June 2014
Team entries to take part in a Dragon Boat Race in aid of Springhill Hospice are being invited.
The event, which will take place at Hollingworth Lake, will see teams compete in a minimum of three races with the fastest going through to the final.
The race will take place on Saturday 5 July starting at 10.00am.
Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place and money raised by the teams will go to Springhill Hospice.
The day will also see other activities, including stalls and a bouncy castle as well as food and a licensed bar.
Organised by Rochdale Round Table, the event is part of the Littleborough Tour de France festival
Originating from China over 2,000 years ago the history of the Dragon Boat Race is steeped in magical yet heroic myth with Dragon Boat Racing quickly becoming the world’s fastest growing water sport.
A spokesperson for Rochdale Round Table said: “The event is open for team entries and we are hoping to have a big turn out on the day.”
The cost is £25 per person and that is based on 16 people per boat.
Application forms for the race can be downloaded below.
