Craft Fair at Hollingworth Lake Visitors Centre

Date published: 22 March 2014

Hollingworth Lake Visitors Centre held their first craft fair today (Saturday 22 March) as a starting point for their monthly craft events.

The fair was organised by Karen Clewer from the visitors centre. She decided to hold the fair after being approached by a number of people.

“People were coming to me and asking about craft fairs so I decided to get everyone together and put the fair on,” said Karen.

Stalls including crochet, handmade cards, vintage candles, watercolours and jewellery.

It is now hoped that the fair will become a monthly event held at the visitors centre. Karen added: “Today was the first one but I am going to put them on monthly. A lot of the ladies here today have said they would want to come back so that’s good.”

Emma Rowbotham, who had a stall at the fair, said: “We got involved through Handmade in Rochdale. We had a busy morning. I don’t think the weather has helped but it has been good. I’m glad it’s becoming a regular thing.”

Catherine Cela, who had a jewellery stall at the fair, added: “It has been my first fair that I have been involved with and I have found it good. I have learnt a lot of things that I can use at other fairs but I think I will be coming back again.”

The next craft fair at the visitors centre will be held on Saturday 29 March and fairs will then be held monthly.
