Swimathon at Heywood Sports Village for Sport Relief

Date published: 10 March 2014

Link4Life, the Rochdale Boroughwide Cultural Trust, is getting behind fund raising efforts for this year’s Sport Relief with a special Swimathon session this Saturday, 15 March, at Heywood Sports Village starting at 3pm.

Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives, and for 2014 and 2016, Sport Relief has partnered with Swimathon, as part of the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games.

By getting sponsored to do the Swimathon, you can help to change lives forever because Comic Relief spends the money raised by the public to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and throughout the world a helping hand to turn their lives around.

You can do your Swimathon on your own, or in a team of between two and five people to divide up the distances you swim. There are three to choose from – 1.5km, 2.5km and 5km – and the number of lengths in the 25 metre pool ranges from 60 to 200.

The session at Heywood runs from 3pm-7pm and spectator seating is also available so that friends and family can cheer you on.

Registration for the event is in advance online at www.sportrelief.com/event-info by selecting the Swimathon option.

Link4Life will also be supporting the Sport Relief Mile the following weekend on Sunday 23 March with an event at Broadfield Park in Rochdale. Registration is via the same website.
