Date published: 30 April 2008

A 43-year-old man has been charged with theft after a man's bank account was accessed after his death.

Stephen John Jones (born 06/05/64), of no fixed abode, was charged with four counts of theft last night, Tuesday 29 April 2008. He is due to appear at Rochdale Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday 30 April 2008.

He was charged after police discovered the body of a 36-year-old man at a flat on The Meadows, Middleton, on Monday 28 April 2008. It is believed he died some time over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

A Home Office post mortem has proved inconclusive and officers are awaiting the results of further tests. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
