Hundreds set to welcome new Greater Manchester Bishops
Date published: 23 April 2008
Hundreds of people are set to welcome the new Bishop of Bolton and Middleton in a unique Cathedral service as they arrive in the Diocese of Manchester following their consecrations at York Minster. It is the first time ever that Manchester has welcomed two bishops at the same time.
The Lord Lieutenant and the Lord Mayor of Manchester will lead welcomes at the unique service, which also includes representatives from across Greater Manchester.
During the service the Dean of the Cathedral, Rogers Govender, will take the Bishops to their seats in the Cathedral and 'install' them. The Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Revd Nigel McCulloch, will lead the service which includes a section asking the congregation if they want the new Bishops. The service starts at 6.30pm.
