St. John’s RC Primary

Retirement

Friday, 29 November will be the last working day for Mr Wenceslas Kapesa, a part-time learning support assistant at St. John’s. Mr Kapesa was also until this term, an active school Governor.

Mr Kapesa has supported pupils at the school who have English as an additional language. He also pioneered and operated a computerised library lending system providing management with reports on pupils’ reading preferences and frequency on a weekly basis.

Wenceslas will be missed very much but our very best wishes go with him for a long and happy retirement. He will continue to be active as a Minister of the Eucharist at St John’s RC Church.

The result for the football match on 19 November against Sacred Heart was a 6-6 draw.

Homework club

We had a good response from children wanting to stay and receive help with their homework. The club will run every Tuesday and Thursday in school from 3pm to 4pm. A charge of 25p per child, per session will apply and is for children in KS1 and KS2 classes. All children must be collected promptly at 4pm from the KS2 entrance near the school hall.

Afterschool and breakfast clubs

The charge for afterschool club and breakfast club is 25p per session. Please ensure that you pay for your sessions at the school office every week.

Attendance and punctuality

Please ensure your child is in school for 8.50am each day. Lateness is very disruptive for the school and you should make every effort to be on time.

Attendance

If your child is absent from school, you must ring the school office on 01706 647195 before 9am to provide a valid reason.

Medicines can be administered in school by our qualified first aid staff and if your child is otherwise well but needs medication, please send them to school with their medicine and complete a consent form at the school office.

Holiday leave

Please do not ask for leave out or normal term time, this will not be granted and will be marked as unauthorised on your child’s register. Please be aware that penalty charges can and will be issued for continued absenteeism.
