St Andrew's, Dearnley and Smithy Bridge

To help us celebrate the feast of St Andrew on November 30 we are having a special Choral Evensong this coming Sunday, December 1, starting at 6pm and led by Archdeacon Cherry Vann.

Sung Eucharist on this, the first Sunday of Advent, will be at 9.30am, followed by separate Holy Baptisms at noon and at 1pm.

Parish rota: lay assistants, S Moore, C Cook; readers, W Foote, J Coomer; Intercessions, R Polley; sidespersons, P Paterson, C Phillips.

The Mothers Union meet in the vicarage on Monday, December 2 at 2pm when they will be given a talk by Cheryl on the work of the Oldham Street Angels. Everyone is welcome.

On Saturday, December 7, an Advent Quiet Day, titled 'Advent Encounters', will be led by Canon Roger Hill from 2pm to 5pm.

Anyone intending to take part is asked to sign the list on the noticeboard in the vestry, so placed while the parish room is under extensive reconstruction as part of our Wider Welcome project.

Please be reminded that the grand opening of the new facilities will be undertaken by Bishop Mark Davies, the Bishop of Middleton, at 10-30am on Saturday, December 14, followed at 6pm that evening by a concert in church given by a Maranatha Gospel Choir.

On the following day, Sunday, December 15, there will be a celebration Sung Eucharist at 9.30am, headed by Bishop Mark, followed by a parish brunch in the brand-new community facility.
